Growing Dixie Fire Forces New Evacuations in Northern California

Newly released footage shows conditions firefighters faced as they battled the Dixie Fire in Northern California on August 3. This footage was released by the Hemet Fire Fighters Association, Local 2342, who said it was captured near Lake Almanor.The Dixie Fire had become the third-largest fire in the state’s history by August 6, local media reported.A new evacuation order was issued on August 7 for the city of Portola as several orders remained in effect across Lassen, Plumas, and Butte counties.As of August 7, the Dixie Fire had burned 446,723 acres and destroyed 184 structures, while threatening 14,000 others, according to fire officials.
