American Keishia Thorpe awarded ‘World’s Best Teacher’

American Keishia Thorpe wins the Global Teacher Prize in Paris at UNESCO’s headquarters. The annual distinction — supported by the Varkey Foundation — is awarded to a teacher who has made an outstanding professional contribution. The Maryland English teacher was chosen from more than 8,000 candidates, and campaigns for better access to higher education — especially for non-English-speaking high school students, first-generation immigrants and refugees.
