Car smash at Dundee University building
A car has crashed into a University of Dundee building and staff and students are being advised to avoid the area. Police were called around 1 pm today after a vehicle crashed into the Dalhousie building in Park Wynd.
Pictures of the accident on social media showed the yellow vehicle almost completely inside the building surrounded by debris. Police later confirmed that there were no reports of injuries.
In a statement on Twitter, the university said: “There has been an incident at Dalhousie Building where a car has crashed into a wall. Students and staff are advised to stay away from the area as emergency services attend the incident.”
“We have no preliminary reports of anyone being injured and there is no reason to be concerned.”
In a later tweet, the university said individuals would be allowed back into the building after the area was cleared.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At approximately 1am on Tuesday, 6 December 2022, police were called to reports of a car crashing into a building in the Park Wynd area of Dundee. No injuries were reported and recovery arrangements were made. The driver was issued a fixed penalty notice.
