In shocking news, Paramount, one of Hollywood’s giants, has been embroiled in legal trouble over a controversial n*de scene in the 1968 hit, Romeo & Juliet. There was a scene in the film where the lead actors shared a scene exposing their bodies and now, they have taken the legal route against the production company. Keep reading to know more!
Directed by Franco Zeffirelli, Romeo & Juliet was a major box office hit and was received with highly positive reviews. Apart from the performance, it was a controversial bedroom scene which generated good publicity around the film. Now, actors Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting, both in their 70s, are suing Paramount for sexually abusing their teens.
For the unversed, the bedroom scene in Romeo and Juliet featured Olivia Hussey’s bare breasts and Leonard Whiting’s b*tt when they were 15 and 16, respectively. The scene was taken without his knowledge. During shooting, the late director Franco Zeffirelli reportedly assured her that the scene would be shot with both of them in flesh-colored undergarments. However, at the last moment she was asked to pose nude with only body makeup.
As per the suit, the Romeo And Juliet actors claim of suffering mentally and losing out on several job opportunities. They are asking for over $500 million as compensation.
