Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank have settled on a name for their newborn son: August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.
“Thank you for so many wonderful messages. Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can’t express,” Eugenie captioned photos of her family that she shared on Instagram Saturday morning.
In the pictures, August clutches his mother’s finger while being held by his father:
The photos were taken by “our wonderful midwife” during a home visit, the princess said. She also thanked “the wonderful essential workers including our midwife who came to discharge our boy.”
Buckingham Palace said the couple was “delighted to share this first photograph as a family.” Eugenie’s mother, Sarah Ferguson, tweeted that she and ex-husband Prince Andrew, “as grandparents,” were “blessed at the arrival.”
“He is a beautiful blessing and a bringer of such love and joy to all our Family,” she tweeted. “I am so proud of Jack and Eugenie, they are and will be wonderful parents.”
August’s middle name of Philip is in honor of his 99-year-old great-grandfather Prince Philip. The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to the hospital Tuesday as a precautionary measure after feeling unwell.
“He is named after his great grandfather and both of his great x5 grandfathers,” the royal wrote in an Instagram story:
Princess Eugenie gave birth to her son on Feb. 9 at The Portland Hospital in London, alongside her husband. The little one weighed in at 8 lbs., 1 oz.
A Buckingham Palace announcement declared at the time that “The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of York, Sarah, Duchess of York, and Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank have been informed and are delighted with the news.”
Eugenie also made her own announcement on the day her son was born and posted a photo of her and Brooksbank holding their newborn’s hand on her Instagram account.
The royal captioned the post with three blue heart emojis and some exclamation points for added measure:
The newest addition to the British royal family marks the ninth great-grandchild for Queen Elizabeth.
