Colbert was cracking some jokes about right-wing Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.), who claimed he was invited to orgies by his colleagues in the House. Since Cawthorn has virtually no relationship with Democrats, it’s presumed that his supposed invites came from fellow Republican lawmakers ― something that reportedly drew the ire of McCarthy.
As McCarthy’s picture came on the screen, Colbert described what the Republican leader might be doing at the orgy, drawing a mix of laughs and groans alike:
